A pet cemetery?

A review of "The Living Graveyard"

This is a slightly absurd documentary about the abundant wildlife at – wait for it – the Vienna Central Cemetery. Large swaths of the cemetery are covered by forest-like or park-like habitat, making it an excellent refuge for a wide variety of animals. Roe deer prefer the Jewish section, due to its tasty evergreen ivy. Hooded Crows haunt the Christian sections after All Saints' Day, stealing and partially consuming wax candles. Meanwhile, the rooks prefer to steal feeder intended for smaller songbirds. Badgers, kestrels, woodpeckers, mice, hares and hamsters are other critters found among the graves, including the faux burial place of famous composer Mozart. Meanwhile, human funeral processions and Halloween celebrants pass by, oblivious to the thriving Animalia. As night falls, the “living graveyard” becomes somewhat spookier, with owls and bats flying around the main church…

Five stars, for the entertainment factor.
