Marx said that world history always repeats itself twice: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce. Somebody has proposed burlesque as the third repetition. I´m not sure what stage Trump´s foreign policy has reached, but it´s certainly beyond farce at this point. 

Trump recently said that he will declare the Strait of Hormuz American territory. A few days later some spokesman of the Trump administration dismissed the statement as a joke?! Then, the erratic president threatened to "bomb the shit" out of Oman.

Another jocular remark, I suppose?

But perhaps Trump can still do something properly tragic, since he decided to scale down US involvement in a joint military exercise with South Korea, citing the ROK´s refusal to back his increasingly quixotic adventure in the Gulf. Instead, he bragged about having good relations with North Korea! The same North Korea which may be in the process of sending tens of thousands of fresh troops to aid the Russians in Ukraine.

It will be interesting to see if Trump´s end will be a tragedy, a farce or even a burlesque. Maybe the Don could at least give us one more performance? For old times sake.

Was the recent Trump assassination attempt staged by the Trump administration? Was it even an assassination attempt in the first place? I don´t think Scott Carney´s speculations makes much sense, tbh. 

Is the suspected gun man Cole Tomas Allen really a pro-Trump plant? And since his actions are clearly irrational, why couldn´t he had tried to kill the president? Or is the idea that the FBI knew what he was planning, but decided to let him inside the building anyway? OK, fine, but where´s the - you know - evidence?  

Note also that the high-quality footage shows that the suspect *did* have a long gun...

So apparently the Strait of Hormuz has been opened. For ten days. Because of something in Lebanon. Maybe. Don´t get me wrong, but does anyone even care anymore? 

Trump can´t meme

 

Claim: there are two versions of the infamous Trump meme showing the Don as Jesus (or is it Geezus a.k.a. Brian). The one to the left is the original one (original source unknown), the one to the right is the meme that was actually published on Truth Social. 

Before the meme was posted by the POTUS, somebody changed one of the soldiers in the sky to a winged creature with apparent horns. I´m not the only person who thinks it looks like a demon or the Devil himself. Did Trump change it? Did somebody else? If so, why? Is some of Trump´s advisors secretely undermining him? 

I suppose the most charitable interpretation is that the "soldiers" really are demons and that Trump opposes them by healing the sick man. But if so, it contradicts the "pro-military" atmosphere in the rest of the meme. Maybe it´s pointless to analyze memes (ironic or otherwise), but the picture was deleted from the Trump account after an unprecedented backlash from American Christians (many of whom presumably voted Republican).

On to the next scandal...

Yes, Trump actually tweeted this on Truth Social: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Allah? I assumed Waheguru was the only true god. Seriously, though, I think it´s officially over now. If the war against the Iranian regime is legitimate, I say it´s high time for a new war leader. And if it isn´t...well!

Still, I wonder how his Christian Nationalist supporters react? Not at all, it seems, since Trump´s Pravda (Breitbart) calls the tweet "blunt, unambiguous and straight to the point".

Just in: Donald Trump wants to create an alternative UN based on the Gaza Board of Peace. Permanent membership would cost a billion dollars. Trump would be the chair of the new council or whatever the structure will be called. With unlimited veto powers! Oh, and he threatens France with 200% tariffs on wine and champagne since Macron has refused to join the Board. Not clear if that´s the board for the Gaza property development project or the more ambitious plan? 

It´s obvious that he lost it. This is no longer the "funny" Trump who was very good at trolling the media with his antics. Something else is going on here. The problem is that his second-in-command JD Vance might be just as bad. Or even marginally worse. One heart beat from Hell...

And yes, the book cover above is Jules Verne´s "The Master of the World", about a brilliant scientist going mustang. 

Fredspris i vår tid

 

Jag erkänner att jag faktiskt tycker det här är lite underhållande. Visste inte att Trump var *så* fåfäng och inbilsk. Många av hans knäppare utspel handlar om att trolla medierna och "own the libs". Men när det gäller fredspriset verkar han faktiskt mena allvar?! Och så är det ju dråpligt att Norge - som antagligen gav Machado utmärkelsen just för att hon är allierad med Trump - misslyckades med sin lilla manöver. Manövern var alltså att ge priset till Trump utan att ge priset till Trump. 

Och i en *viss* mening är det väl kul att se hur förvirrade högen och mitten har blivit sedan Trump, istället för att följa spelboken och den sedvanliga dramaturgin, har låtit den kommunistiska regimen i Venezuela sitta kvar vid makten...

But OK, I got a terrible sense of humor!
