Wake up to politics

 

I´ve covered this before, but opinion polls supposedly suggest that most Trump/MAGA supporters are in favor of Operation Epic Fury. The number of MAGA Republicans who support the war is much larger than the number of non-MAGA Republicans who do so. This is true both in percentages and in absolute numbers. Only 3% of Republicans identify clearly as both MAGA and anti-war. From this, some gadflies conclude that there isn´t a "split in MAGA" over the Iran war. It´s all sound and (non-epic) fury from the legacy media, signifying nothing. 

However, there seems to be a problem with the relevant polls.  

Those who self-identify as MAGA usually take that to mean "100% support for Trump". The label is ideologically empty and is used to express extreme trust in the person of Donald J Trump. Those who oppose the Iran war will probably not identify as MAGA for that very reason. But this skews the result. If "MAGA" just means "I love Trump", then almost *by definition* MAGAs will be much less likely to oppose Trump´s policies on any issue. 

The writer of the first article linked below believe that the midterm elections *will* cause trouble for Trump since many new Trump voters in 2024 were independents and are likely to switch their allegiance (many of these might be opposed to the war or dissatisifed for other reasons). However, he believes that this isn´t the same thing as a major split in MAGA, since the MAGAs who are "Trumpier than Trump" (Steven Bannon, Tucker Carlson, MTG) command very little support.

I can´t help wondering if political commentators are simply talking pass each other. They have different definitions of what "MAGA" is supposed to be. The ideologically orthodox populists may be a minuscule group and perhaps nobody outside their circles gives a damn about what Bannon is saying, but if a larger group of independents leave the "MAGA coalition" (in the broader sense), Trump is in trouble anyway! And that´s true even if this particular group is smaller than the MAGA cultists for whom Trump simply can do nothing wrong. Elections can be decided by a few swing voters... 

Another interesting finding (second link) is that 26% of Republican voters believe that Trump started the Iran war to distract from the Epstein files, while a whopping 81% of Democrats think so.

Not sure why Scott Carney (the first clip above) is so happy about Nick Fuentes calling on his supporters to boycott the midterms. Fuentes is a marginal character and hasn´t been MAGA (sensu stricto) for years. He tried to influence the 2024 presidential elections with a similar boycott call, and it didn´t work out (obviously). So a few Nazi wannabes won´t vote GOP in 2026 or 2028, who cares?

The second clip (from TYT) discusses the Steven Bannon situation. I find it amazing that Bannon *still* has some traction on the far right after all the revelations in the Epstein Files.

Maybe Fuentes the Groyper Führer has a certain point, after all. Time to burn it all down. Or at least walk away now and avoid the rush!

This is *very* strange. Maybe it´s part of some 27-dimension smoke-and-mirrors psy-op, and then some. Or maybe Epstein and Bannon were just delusional. 

Or maybe...I don´t know. There were rumors that Bannon and the Trump camp wanted to influence the papal elections, but why would *Epstein* be in on a prior conspiracy against Francis? Why would he even care?

Did Francis do something that really pissed off Epstein? Something about Israel, paedophile priests, the Vatican bank...

Did Jeffrey Epstein actually live at the Vatican? Did he attend Latin Mass? He certainly met Pope John Paul II at one point. The YouTube content-creator comments these rumors/claims in this short video. Short form: "No" on both questions.

Personally, I wouldn´t be as confident. There´s so much shit in the zone right now. I wouldn´t be surprised if a few cardinals will be implicated in this sordid affair sooner or later. Dan Brown might consider writing a new novel. Assuming, of course, that *he* isn´t in the files somewhere...

Steven Bannon supposedly sits on 15 hours of unreleased interview material with Jeffrey Epstein. Two hours have leaked, however. They are part of the Epstein files recently released by Congress. The interview (or conversation) have been posted on several YouTube channels.

After watching it, I´m not sure if Epstein is a midwit trying to talk like a genius, or a genius talking like a midwit. Yes, a large portion of the interview is about science, mathematics and philosophy. Epstein apparently dabbled in these topics. More disturbingly, we learn that at the age of 30, Epstein was invited to the board of the Rockefeller Foundation and the Trilateral Commission?!

Sometimes, Epstein (a former Wall Street trader or should I say shark) sound like a conspiracy theorist. He talks about debt creation, fractional reserve banking and how inflation "makes no sense". However, he never really walks the walk. Instead, Epstein argues that the financial system is so complex that nobody really understands it. Everyone is just a small cog in a gigantic machinery. In fact, most Wall Street stock brokers can hardly do basic math! Epstein worked for something called the Santa Fe Institute, the purpose of which was to discover and mathematize the laws governing the financial markets. The politicians usually don´t know anything either (OK, I can believe that).

Epstein veers strongly towards vitalism. Bananas might be conscious, somehow. The soul might be real. Indeed, the soul is "the dark matter of the brain". Existence is miraculous and mysterious. Bannon gets frustrated with Epstein at one point, accusing him of talking "bullshit" and "being rabbinical". 

Epstein does talk about his time in jail in 2008. Ironically, it was right during the financial crisis, when half of Wall Street almost went bankrupt. Epstein was in solitary confinement and didn´t learn about the crisis until somewhat later (including the near-collapse of the business where he was a partner). Interesting factoid: Epstein claims that the other inmates hated him because he was rich, not because he was a suspected pedophile. The claim that sexual predators experience hell in jail or prison is a myth. I´ve actually heard this before - years ago, I read in a Swedish newspaper that whoever has the most drugs is king in prison, even if he is a sexual offender.

One bizarre detail struck me when listening to this material: Bannon sounds like he always does. That is, he sounds like a right-wing populist and friend of the little guy. But here he is, trying to whitewash (science-wash?) a convicted sex offender and organizer of countless orgies featuring the globalist elite. I mean, what the fuck.

At the very end of the two-hour sitting, Bannon asks Epstein the question that is making the rounds in the media right now: Are you the Devil? Epstein seems to deny it, and even says that the Devil scares him. The exchange probably tells us more about Bannon than about Epstein. I get the impression that Bannon actually admires Satan (as described by Milton) and projects this on Epstein?!

Maybe that´s the most chilling moment in the entire interview.

Portions of Bannon´s interview with Epstein has leaked and is in the released files. I haven´t watched the entire thing yet, but here is a sample that´s making the rounds in the media just now. Bannon asks Epstein "are you the Devil...that´s a serious question".

The Epstein-related revelations about paedophilia (hebephilia?) and wild parties involving celebrities, zillionairies and former presidents are scandalous, to be sure, but somehow we knew all that already. 

The main take away from this sordid saga seems to be something else. Again, I have to return to that photo of Chomsky and Bannon, a photo probably taken by Epstein himself. The doyens of anti-Israeli leftism and the anti-Israeli far right, respectively, enjoying themselves at the same party...organized by a pro-Israeli centrist Jew with *extensive* establishment connections.

The reactions to the Epstein scandal from the Alt Right (or whatever they call themselves) are also interesting. After screaming about the Epstein files from years, they all fell in line when Trump abducted Maduro. You know, the same Trump who had denied that the files even existed. Some of these guys still promote Bannon, who was *in* the fucking Epstein files?!

It´s all fake. From right to left, including all the dissidents. *That* seems to be the really sobering revelation. That, and the fact that many seemingly ideologically driven activists don´t stand for anything at all...

In hindsight, it´s obvious that Western-style more-or-less-democratic capitalism simply couldn´t be overthrown by a revolution. Any revolution. The system was simply too good to derail and integrate all opposition and render it harmless. See the photo above! Chomsky (the "anarchist" who ended up voting for the Democrats like everyone else) was obviously controlled opposition, but the fact that Bannon shows up in the Epstein files may tell you something about *that* end of the political spectrum...  

The system could only have been smashed from the outside - but even that might have been impossible, Communism perhaps being too integrated itself into certain "geopolitical structures" (and strictures). I mean, how many of the revolutionary regimes in the Third World were really dependent on Western capital for their survival? And what about the Soviet Union itself? Beside, how would such a "smashing" even have looked like, anyway? A nuclear first strike á la Posadas?

There is of course another way in which the Western democratic-capitalism might end: by gradually rottening from the inside. Indeed, that seems to be what is happening as we speak. A process which will end in the simultaneous disappearence of the two main contending classes (whoever *they* are - the managerial class and the lose cannon capitalistas)?

Marxism ended as a utopia. In its un-ironic form, it was just the millennarian cult of modernity. And the paedophiles are always with you.

I mean...wtf? Maybe the reason why this got to me is that it encapsulates my own political trajectory (give or take a few peregrinations and gyrations). I used to identify with the anti-Stalinist far left. Then, I became interested in the far right (although I never joined it or identified with it). Always in the belief that they somehow, some way oppose the rottening establishment. But this picture strongly suggests otherwise. It´s almost like a symbol. 

Even worse: since I don´t want the European panhandle to become a Sino-Russian Protektorat, I sometimes feel like a pimp for the rottening establishment...

Epstein tried to give the Russians "insights" into Trump. Was he a Russian asset? The connection to Trump´s kind-of-former advisor Steven Bannon is also piquant.

Or perhaps not. The essay below (by libertarian gadfly Richard Hanania) argues that the Republican party might get "Groyperized" and hence become even more populist (in the bad sense of that term), racist and conspiracist (including anti-Israel). The Groypers are a peculiar Alt Right subculture on the internet associated with the influencer Nick Fuentes. It does seem correct that Fuentes recently went from shunned fringe-Nazi to almost-respectable right-wing personality. Hanania argues that the apparent 2028 GOP frontrunner, J D Vance, must adapt to Groyperism or else face a hard populist backlash. 

Hanania also says that while it´s true that the Groypers are internet-based, such a movement can still influence or even change a political party. Well, I disagree. There are only two ways in which hardline populists can get influence. Either by forming a highly centralized organization IRL (not some chatbox on the web) and use it to capture the Republican party, the federal apparatus, and the like. Or by getting the tacit or open support of an establishment faction, but this will only happen if the populist agenda has become "structurally" (so to speak) necessary for that particular faction. 

If not, what will happen is what already took place in 2016: a wing of the establishment (in this case some of the "RINOs") will use populism to win elections, but then go for business-as-usual. Which is exactly why the first Trump administration was so ineffective. Trump seems more efficient this time around, but that´s obviously because some other establishment faction has decided that the US needs to become more authoritarian, using the power-hungry and vengeful president as their instrument. The "people" has nothing to do with it, and neither has some subculture of weirdos on X (frankly, the idea is ridiculous). 

For instance, if the GOP ever dumps Israel, it will be because of some elite interest in doing so, not because the "base" has suddenly become more, shall we say, "based" on the Jewish Question. If the world looks similar in 2029 to what it does in 2025, Vance as president will simply continue Trump´s policies, regardless of what rhetoric he may have spouted during an election campaign. This will include continued support for Israel, a willingness to take generous donations from Qatar, and even cheap immigrant labor so the Coca-Cola Company can use cane sugar to sweeten the drinks of the Great Leader emeritus (DJT).

I know that the Alt Right has long labored under the illusion that *they* elected Trump in 2016 (also a Democrat talking point) when actually it was White workers in blue wall states (hardly the main constituency of Irony Twitter) switching parties. Maybe the Groypers (the last surviving Alt Right faction?) have similar illusions about their present influence. So here is my prediction: there will never be an Incel Revolution.

Donald Trump´s relation to the far right or Alt Right have always been...complicated. Witness his oscillations in relation to Steven Bannon. Among other things! However, it seems we are very near a decisive turning point due to the (probably inevitable) Epstein fiasco. The hard right elements are incredulous and extremely disappointed at Trump´s handling of the case. Indeed, the POTUS has been "ratioed" at his own social media platform, Truth Social. 

But this isn´t simply a decisive test for the Trump admimistration´s ability to harness far right support. It´s also a turning point for the far right itself. Now we will finally learn how strong *it* really is. Will it depart? If it does so, will MAGA split asunder? Or will the far right/conspiracist subculture turn out to be mostly irrelevant? And if so, how will this affect the future of social media? If "influencers" with a lot of clout on the web have zero traction IRL, doesn´t this affect the usefulness and authority of social media platforms?

As for Trump´s "base", most self-identified Trump supporters backed the president´s recent decision to bomb Iran´s nuclear facilities (obviously to aid the US ally Israel). So much for "isolationism"! But sure, I suppose they might also support closed borders and more protectionism. And Trump is still (kind of) pushing for those things. So it´s not immidiately obvious how this will end...

As for Bannon, he supposedly has access to 15 hours of interview material with Jeffrey Epstein himself (!)...some of it to be released next year as part of a documentary.
