Good grief

Please don´t tell me the Dems are seriously contemplating nominating Kamala Harris *again*?!

I have no particular horse in this race (OK, maybe a cute little pony), but if anybody over there wants my advice, I would say that the "best" Dem ticket would be Newsom-Shapiro, while the "best" GOP ticket would be Haley-Rubio. Best from a European perspective, at least. In the long run, we´ll all be dead!

But surely nobody thinks Harris can defeat Vance? Although I suppose there is a slight chance, since Vance - after all - is no Trump. But that can be remedied by the neo-GOP very explicitly making Vance the constitutional place holder for Trump (or Trump jr).

Hypothetical

Imagine what Trump´s supporters would have said if Joe Biden or Kamala Harris had negotiated a peace deal which gives Hamas control over half of Gaza, demands Israeli withdrawal from all of the territory, and includes the release of 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in return for 20 Israeli hostages. Then, the POTUS says something confusing about a non-partisan technocratic committee (backed by 200 American soldiers based outside Gaza)...

They would cry treason, wolf or whatever whenever. But if the Great Leader does exactly the same thing...well!

Dark Brandon forever

The turkey pardoned by Biden

Richard Spencer still carrying out "deep entryism" in the Democratic Party. Gotta love the attack on "tech-bro fascism". As opposed to...what? Bromance fascism?

>>>Senile Biden would have won in 2024. At the very least, he would have performed better than Harris. I don’t even think Kamala was that bad. She genuinely tried to avoid the woke stuff, but was dragged down by it. The assassination attempt also made Trump seem like a “man of Destiny.” Trump’s power is neutralized when he faces off against an old White guy. He has beaten two shrill liberal women.

>>>Don’t blame me. I don’t make the rules. The real scandal is that the Democrats didn’t more vigorously cover up and lie about Biden’s declining mental state. If America descends into civil war and/or tech-bro fascism, don’t blame Joe Biden. Blame George Clooney!

Sacred trust

This is something of a rant, but here we go anyway...

If Trump really is Hitler, why is it a "sacred responsibility" (or whatever) to hand over power to him in an "ordered and peaceful transition"? It´s almost as if the Dems were full of BS when they said that Trump was a fascist. You know, waving the bloody shirt and all that...

True, nobody *really* knows what the Don wants to do (maybe not even himself), but as of now, his administration seems set to become a hybrid between a regular Republican administration and barely controlled chaos. In other words, like - you know - Trump´s first term. Which we all somehow survived.

That being said, sure, it might be much worse this time. The whole world does seem uncomfortably crazy right now. But what is the liberal alternative to *that*? The hybrid between a regular Democrat administration and barely controlled chaos America got under Biden?

The "fascist" Trump couldn´t stop Biden in 2020-2021, anymore than the "Resistance" could (or even would) stop Trump in 2024-2025. Who´s really in charge over there? Maybe the real question is: When will the autopilot stop working?

United Slaves

No relation to United Slaves!

LOL! Breitbart News goes mustang in this article, attacking Kamala Harris for celebrating Kwanzaa, but note the last sentence, in which they are forced to admit that even Donald Trump wished Black people a Happy Kwanzaa (although he never claimed to celebrate it himself).

Kwanzaa is a "fake holiday" according to Breitbart, invented by one Maulana Karenga who was a really bad boy. Maybe a proto-fascist? Or a left-wing extremist? One thing not mentioned in the screed is that some radical leftists actually believe that Karenga was an FBI stooge!

Oh, and why isn´t Christmas a fake holiday? It was invented by a proto-fascist Roman regime the main pastime of which was book burning, slavery and wars of conquest, but whatever...

Biden-Harris admin wishes everyone a "Happy Kwanzaa"

No path to victory

An advisor to Kamala Harris admits that the Democratic nominee had no path to victory. The most astounding statement is this:

>>>Plouffe also admitted that internal polling also showed that Kamala Harris never took the lead over Trump, even admitting that public polls showing Harris in the lead left him surprised.

>>>“We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” he said. “I think it surprised people, because there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw.”

Oh.

Pareidolia

Am I just imagining this or...? During the recent election campaign in the United States, I spotted a number of unrelated ads on YouTube and elsewhere (both English-language and Swedish) featuring actors/models who kind-of-resembled Kamala Harris.

Maybe I just noticed such models (perhaps of an East Indian background?) more due to the elections, but a more interesting possibility is of course that it was quite deliberate!

Class War 2024

Here we go again! From an article published in August by the Revolutionary Communists of America (RCA). Note how their name sounds like a pun on the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Probably not a co-incidence.

Some crazy quotes [exclamation marks mine]:

>>>Based on their experience of life under capitalism, ever-wider layers of American workers are drawing radical conclusions. Alongside the many millions who already identify as communists [!!], there are millions of others who reject both ruling-class parties and want to see the entire system overthrown [!!].

>>>The aim of the Class War 2024 campaign is to connect with that mood and equip the communist generation with the political tools it needs to begin sinking roots in every workplace, on every campus, and in every working-class neighbourhood.

>>>As a result, poll after poll reveals a widespread rejection of the ruling institutions of US capitalism, including its twin political parties.

>>>Last year, Gallup reported that a record 63% of US adults believe “a third major party is needed” because they don’t feel represented by either the Democrats or Republicans.

>>>In May, a poll conducted by Siena College Research Institute found that 69% of registered voters believe the US political and economic system needs “major changes” or “needs to be torn down entirely.”

>>>A Trump victory would unleash a mass wave of struggle and open big opportunities for the communists [!!]. He cannot deliver a better life for the working class, and those who vote for him will eventually be very disappointed.

>>>We must raise our banner and spread our programme by every means at our disposal. Class-conscious workers are everywhere; the only limits on our ability to find and discuss with them are the limits of our own boldness and creativity [!!].

>>>Canvassing, door-knocking, selling The Communist, postering, stickering, social media, public events, street rallies, picnics, breakroom meetings, campus tabling, leafleting, yard signs, flyering doorsteps, doormats, and windshield wipers are all valid tactics. [!!!]

>>>Despite the renewed pressure to back the party of the class enemy, a colossal undercurrent of class anger lies just beneath the surface, and the objective conditions for such a campaign have never [!!!] been more favourable.

>>>History is calling on the communist generation to step forward and show what genuine class politics looks like.

Translation: We are a Communist organization with the correct revolutionary program, have no idea where the millions of communists actually are, but will surely find them through stickers and flyers under doormats. How on earth is this not a religious cult? Or at the very least a quasi-Healyite LARP?

Reap the whirlwind

This must be the strangest aspect of the recent US presidential election campaign. Trump managed to convince at least a portion of the Muslim/Arab community in the battleground state of Michigan to vote for him as "the peace candidate".

Note also that Richard Grenell played a prominent role in the Muslim/Arab outreach. I suppose they "forgot" to mention that Grenell is, ahem, gay...

I suppose it´s within the realm of the possible that Trump, whose son-in-law Jared Kushner was instrumental in negotiating the Abraham accords, will tell Israel to cool it, so the accords (the real purpose of which is to encircle Iran) will survive. However, "possible" and "probable" aren´t the same thing.

Besides, Biden and Harris also support the Abraham accords and are more likely to tell Israel to wind down its military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. Or engineer Netanyahu´s ouster in favor of a more "moderate" leader. So it still makes no sense from a "pro-Palestinian" perspective to vote for Trump.

Is the US the only nation in the world were the Jews support the "anti-Israeli" candidates, while the Muslims vote for the "pro-Israeli" one? Amerikwa is crazier than I imagined!

"Political Nostradamus" or basic bitch?

Allan Lichtman tries to explain away his failure to call the 2024 POTUS elections in a conversation with liberal media personality Chris Cuomo. Lichtman is the co-inventor of the "13 keys", which supposedly predicted the last 10 presidential elections correctly. But this time, they completely failed. Yes, Lichtman read the "keys" (or the tea leaves?) as indicating a win for Harris. So what went wrong?

In the clip above, Lichtman sounds like any basic liberal pundit, claiming that "misinformation" and "racism" reached such stunning new levels that his "keys" went off the grid. Yeah, whatever. But note that Lichtman rather notoriously called the 2016 elections for Trump! What was different this time?

Lichtman´s 13 keys are based on the idea that the voters, at least as a collective, make a rational choice based on the actual track record of the incumbent president´s administration. So presumably the rational choice this year would have been to vote Harris. But why? Can´t the rational voters see the economic crisis that stares them right in their faces? According to his own keys, the voters in such a situation should give the challenger a shot at it.

Instead, we get the tired old claim that everything is sunshine, and that voters who don´t see this are simply irrational. Let them eat official optimism! I assume Lichtman can´t stand Trump and was carried away. That being said, he probably has some kind of point when saying that the current situation is very different from the previous 44 years. The rules have changed. Perhaps very fundamentally.

But have they changed in the way the pundits assume? Somehow I doubt it...

"Genocide Josh"

A recent poll in Pennsylvania suggests that Kamala Harris may have lost the battleground state due to her decision *not* to make Josh Shapiro her running mate.

Maybe.

But would it have helped the Democrats overall to have the pro-Israeli Jew Shapiro as their VP nominee? They might have lost Michigan even faster than they actually did. Even more "progressive leftists" might have stayed away from the elections altogether. Conversely, *really* hardcore supporters of Israel, Jew and Gentile alike, would still have found Trump more to their liking.

So I´m not entirely convinced.

Choosing Walz over Shapiro hurt Harris in Pennsylvania

Josh Shapiro may have been too pro-Israel

Nothing to see here...

"Än en gång hade opinionsmätningarna fel"

A correction

Me just now

In one previous blog post ("Trump is the man") I suggested that maybe the gender polarization among young American voters was less pronounced this year than previously.

Dude.

A second look at the relevant statistics shows that this is very far from the truth. OK, so I was tired, bad at reading graphs, or whatever. Relevant links below.

That being said...I *still* haven´t found any breakdown of young voters according to race and gender. Are White voters in the 18 - 30 age cohort less gender-polarized than "colored" voters? 52% of White women overall supported Trump, but what was the percentage of White young women who did so?

Note that the abortion issue has "cratered" compared to 2022, which was unexpected to many. Note finally the comment that many "progressive leftist" youth may have decided to sit out the elections, which I suppose has been a common fear all along.
