From isolation to inclusion

The climate change conferences continue their downward spiral, now in Azerbaijan, a nation mostly known for its oil industry. They have natural gas, too. Since the Azeri regime is authoritarian, the number of radical leftist protesters should be minimal.

The Taliban of Afghanistan participate at the conference as "observers". I suppose they could pitch their enormously large and untapped reserves of rare earth minerals as some kind of Green transition thing. Or they could just sell ice cream...

Queer as Taliban

This must be the strangest news item this year. I suppose we could call it queer as fuck! Is Andrew Anglin behind this, somehow?

Bland åldersfuskare och terrorister

Lite förvecklingar i Norge kring talibanerna.

"We are monitoring the situation"

Could even be true, given the current weakness of the US and the obvious senility of its "Commander in Chief". At this stage, Taliban in Almaty winning over the population with free ice cream deliveries are probably more likely! Last time I paid any notice to Psaki, she was threatening to censor anti-vaxxers on Facebook. Priorities...

Can we blame this on Facebook somehow?

Guilty as charged!

Fuel crisis in Lebanon. We can´t blame that on Brexit, can we now? Can we blame it on Facebook instead? Or, I don´t know, the Taliban???

In the hybrid zone

Imagine the kind of BS bird-watchers are fighting over. Is Bullock´s Oriole really the same species as the Baltimore Oriole, or are they distinct? The American Ornithological Union lumped them together in 1983, but split them apart again in 1995.

Recent research (2020 - what else?) shows that the splitters (and hence the bird-watchers, who never liked AOU´s 1983 decision) were right. The "hybrid zone" between the two blackbirds (of course it´s blackbirds) has been shrinking since the 1950´s, presumably because the hybridization is a dead-end for these particular populations.

Of course, if you define "species" in some different way (see: bovid research), I´m sure you can split the orioles into an additional 10 species, but who cares? The rest of the world wants to know what Joe Biden proposes to do about the ice cream situation (not to mention Beijing´s hybrid warfare), not some icterid hybridization conundrum in Nebraska...

Oriole bird hybridization is a dead end

Yeah, whatever

Apparently, Great Satan still has some opinions about something-something in Afghanistan. I´m sure the Taliban are *very interested indeed* in listening to this...

It begins...anew

Off topic. It seems Breitbart News is back in the anti-immigration fold again. Just now, there are two articles on their site attacking Afghan refugees brought over to the US as part of Joe Biden´s resettlement program.

Last week, they called them "Americans" and demanded they should be airlifted out of Mazar-e-Sharif or Kabul. Presumably, with some good ol´ Amerikan fire power protecting the operation, yes?

In plain English: Breitbart´s readers complained about the U-turn (or perhaps they just calmed down a bit?), so the editors are back grifting off the hard earned incomes of paleo-conservatives, rather than the neos.

It was just a LARP

Since the liberation of Kabul by the Pashtun Muslim fighters last month, something has happened to Breitbart News. You know, the erstwhile flagship of Trumpism-Cruzism-nationalism-isolationism. Breitbart has started to sound like Neo-Cons. No, worse, they actually sounds like Democrats. Many of their articles about the US debacle in Afghanistan sound distinctly *liberal* in tone. I won´t link to them. You can easily find them on their site.

So what the heck is going on here?

I think I may have an answer.

It was all a LARP. Conservative isolationism, that is.

Iso-cons are like libertariantards. It´s a meme ideology, best honored in the breach. Indeed, if it "works" at all, it´s probably only because America is an Empire and the US military keeps it safe. This is obvious in the case of libertarianism, which also has the added benefit of the US being economically dominant on the global level, complete with an International Monetary Fund and a Federal Reserve system. Without which the US economy would (of course) collapse. But it´s equally obvious in the case of isolationist conservatism. It only works because the US has no powerful enemies against which to isolate itself!

I was going to say that libertarians can pretend to favor "free enterprise" in the shadow of Big Business and Big Bank, but that´s a meaningless statement, since libertarians *don´t run any businesses in the first place*. They prefer to form think-tanks, start faux political parties, and in general grift themselves through life, a bit like the moochers in Randian fiction. Meanwhile, iso-cons can have their little "township meetings", "local Republican clubs", Church get togethers, all in the shadow of the nuclear missiles and international military treaties that makes their cozy little 1950´s imitation lifestyles possible. Isolationism? Don´t make me laugh.

It was all a lie, from the Spanish-American War in 1898 (or thereabouts) until today. But now...the LARP has been called.

Imagine an America which can´t force anyone to exchange their local currency for dollars, an America that doesn´t control the world´s gold reserves (or even the gold), an America that can´t get semiconductors to its military because China just occupied some shitty island in the Yellow Sea, an America that can´t even get heroine for its heroine junkies since some sharia-loving warband took over the poppy fields and won´t sell...

Not so funny anymore, is it? That´s how a FAILED STATE looks like.

Well, that was what your program would have inevitably led to, already 20, 40, 80 or 160 years ago. Funny it´s finally happening, blowing your little pretenses sky high.

Oh, and don´t forget to pass the ice cream.

Chances are, that´s probably also made in China!

Taliban trolling again

Probably some new Taliban trolling. I didn´t even know there was a George Floyd mural in Kabul?! This is getting more and more weird by the hour. Yes, I´m familiar with the Duchamps class. And please pass me that ice cream...

Oh, and funny to read an almost pro-Floyd article in the (former?) flagship of Trumpdom, Breitbart News. Perhaps they are trolling too?

Nästa månads spännande politiska pseudo-debatt

Credit: Frankie Fouganthin

Not sure why Breibart News (hardly an animal rights outfit) carries this story, but they seem to publish *anything* now just to smear Joe Biden as much as possible.

Taliban Amerika

Concerning the recent events in Kabul...

My personal interpretation, which could of course be wrong, is that the attack was a kind of false flag, probably a Deep State operation using ISIS as useful idiots. The purpose is pretty obvious: either stop the US withdrawal at the last moment and/or discredit Joe Biden in preparation of a constitutional coup in DC. If so, it seems Biden´s handlers have foiled the attempt.

Let´s be honest about this: the US and the Taliban aren´t really "enemies" in the strict sense of that term. That´s just a media construction. It´s as if everyone suddenly forgot that the Trump administration made a deal with the Taliban last year about a US withdrawal, a deal now honored by Biden´s ditto. Since the Afghan national army is obviously incapable of fighting, the deal really gave effective control of Afghanistan to the Taliban movement.

So the seemingly super-Machiavellian political judo of the United States suddenly working together with the Taliban against ISIS - the same Taliban who were US enemy numero uno just the other day - is really "business as usual". Media hype isn´t the same thing as realities on the ground.

Since the US and the Taliban aren´t exactly friends or allies either, we can´t be sure about how this will play out in the end, but there is a certain chance that the deal will work out to "everyone´s" benefit in the end. The US army leaves, US anti-terror black ops stays, US corporations get lucrative business contracts, ISIS get fire and brimstone, and the Taliban get most of Afghanistan. Win-win, kind off.
