Guldfiskapokalypsen

Am I losing it, or what?

Come and take it

Does Venezuela really intend to start a war with Guyana? Or is it just another Tuesday as far as centuries-old territorial disputes go?

I want to be left behind

Probably a hoax, but still quite funny! Gives an entirely new meaning to the expression "Collapse now and avoid the rush"!

Balrog Moment

Be the Sun! Like Gandalf on the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, confronting the Balrog, we have to reveal our true angelic natures and stand in the Light. Some pep talk from David Spangler.

A Balrog Moment

The Democratic Party´s "social fascist" moment

Correct me if I´m wrong, but did the Democrats in the US House of Representatives just block with the far right Trump-loving "literally Nazis" to unseat a moderate Republican Speaker who just had made a deal with the Democrats about a temporary budget?

Are these the same Dems who told us since about 2015 that Donald Trump and his minions are the gravest threat to democracy and the Republic as we know it? The same Dems who told us for decades that we have to fund SPLC, ADL and the like to fight people like, I don´t know, Matt Gaetz?

Now, further financial assistance to Ukraine is under threat. It also struck me that with the US Congress in de facto recess, there won´t be any action on those darn F-16´s (either way) Turkey claim they want as their prize to admit Sweden into NATO.

So now the Turkish Parliament just got the perfect excuse to table Sweden´s membership application for another six months or so...

And all this because the *Democrats* couldn´t resist slapping the main-line RINOs in the face?! This is such bad optics that some shills here in Sweden try to pin the blame on the Republicans! Ahem, no, most Republican representatives voted against Literal Nazi Gaetz and his motion to vacate...

This might be the Dems´ very own "social fascist" moment, as when the German Communists in Prussia in 1931 blocked with the Nazis to remove a centrist government...

Or it might just be BAU as far as Amerikwa is considered, but I have to say that the BAU BS comes at a very inauspicious moment!

Men Putin hade rätt

I´m not holding my breath, though.

None dare call it click bait

Credit: Pochita(@NezukoSocial) on Twitter

While this is interesting, I recently saw it used as click bait by a certain Swedish tabloid (well, Aftonbladet if you must know). "New research reveals when humanity will go extinct". As if it was only 10 years away or something. Naah, it´s 250 million years into the future, guys. The extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs was "only" 66 million years ago, by comparison.

In other words: we really truly don´t have to worry. Besides, I´m sure interplanetary space ships powered by wind turbines will be up and running by that time, so we and other Mammalia can leave for greener pastures at Ganymede?

Or no?

So the darn blue supermoon is invisible due to an overcast...AND IT AINT EVEN BLUE IN THE FIRST PLACE??!! FAKE NEWS!!!

Biggest pseudo-event of the year, if you ask me. Unless it floods Atlanta, I suppose...

We live in a post-blue moon society.

Blue moon over Florida

Breitbart News just now about the hurricane Idalia, currently wreaking havoc in Florida. Note the sensationalism about Biblical floods and the "rare blue supermoon" reference, which probably isn´t scientific to Breitbart´s readers - they are more likely to think of the blood moon apocalypse!

But nothing about, I don´t know, climate change or something like that...

Jaha

LOL.

Tja, kanske. Men då måste man kunna ta konsekvenserna.

Too much windpower

A windpower plant in Rostock, Germany just snaps and falls down during a recent storm. The storm "Zacharias", to be more exact.

Symbolic, somehow? Extreme weather (caused by climate change?) destroys the technology Man uses to save his butt from...guess what...extreme weather and climate change.

The memes make themselves.

The Second Religiosity

John Michael Greer sounds angrier than usual in this reflection on magic, religion and the end of the "Age of Reason".

Here are some extensive quotes:

>>>You know that an age of reason is coming to an end when magic escapes from these marginal environments and begins to find a home in pop culture. That inevitably faces savage pushback from the managerial caste and their hangers-on, and understandably so; the rise of magic is an exact measure of the failure of reason, since people turn to magic when the officially approved options of their society don’t work. Since no managerial caste anywhere seems to understand that their pushback just makes rejected ideas more popular, that guarantees the spread of magic through the crawlspaces of society.

>>>The revival of religious institutions comes a little later in the process. What drives that revival is the terminal collapse of the claims of rationalism to provide meaning and value to human life, and that collapse is driven in turn by the failure of the managerial caste to follow through on its grand promises. In the wake of that failure, people left adrift by the collapse of the rationalist promise look for other sources of meaning and value, and a great many of them find it in the old religious institutions of their society. Oswald Spengler, who studied this process carefully in half a dozen civilizations, referred to it as the Second Religiosity.

>>>Thus there’s a real point to Naomi Wolf’s concern about the presence of supernatural evil in our lives. The Unseen responds to human actions, for good or ill, and a significant number of people in recent years have been going out of their way to invoke malign influences in the mistaken idea that they can use those forces to benefit themselves and hurt the people they don’t like. The law of magical repercussion—or as I called it two weeks ago, the raspberry jam principle—remains in force, as relentless and impersonal as gravity. It will play its usual role in sorting out the very mixed bag of operative occultists in the wake of the age of reason. While that process works itself out, however, there’s going to be an unusual amount of noxious spiritual influence around.

>>>You can deal with that by practicing a traditional religion—and the operative word here is “practicing,” not merely believing; the rites, sacraments, and everyday practices of traditional faiths have as one of their benefits the attunement of the individual to positive spiritual currents, which drive off the noxious influences just mentioned. You can also deal with it by practicing some form of traditional occultism. Ethics won’t do the job by themselves but they’re a necessary ingredient in either path. Pretending that the Unseen does not exist, though, emphatically won’t cut it any more.

The bottom of the OCEAN

Some interesting comments on the super-rich individuals involved in the Titan submersible incident, freely based on evolutionary psychology.

Featuring "jolly" heretic Edward Dutton.

Does he actually call the thrill-seeking personality type "OCEAN"?!

Free speech, testing testing

Well, there certainly is free speech on Twitter these days. Note that Elon Musk is among the people "threatened" in this truly dank meme!
