Derek Ratcliffe's book "Lapland: A Natural History" deals mostly
with birds. There are also presentations of various habitats: boreal forests,
tundra, lake and rivers, etc. However, since the bulk of the book is about bird
distribution, I wonder whether the title "natural history" really
makes any sense. This work looks rather like a super-extensive encyclopedia
article!
And yes, Derek likes Common Redshanks.
I give him and his lovely wife three stars for the effort...
