Running up that hill

"Alpine Flowers of Britain and Europe" is a portable field guide signed Christopher Grey-Wilson and Marjorie Blamey.

It covers the high mountain ranges of Western and Central Europe: the Alps, the Apennines, the Carpathians, the Cevennes and the Massif Central, the Cantabrian Mountains, the Pyrenees, and the mountainous regions of Britain and north-western Europe.

All flowering plants except the unfortunate grasses, sedges and rushes are included. Aliens are not included either.

I recognize the illustrations in this field guide - they seem to be taken straight from "Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe" by Richard Fitter, Alastair Fitter and...surprise, Marjorie Blamey. The colour plates are just as unwieldy.

Still, if you're idea of a good time includes climbing the mountain tops of Europe just to get hold of an Edelweiss, sure thing, this is the book for you!
