Dominus protector meus



40 years ago, there were still small groups of Christians in northern Sweden who refused to read any other Bible edition than the Charles XII Bible, published in 1704 and named after Sweden's great warrior king. The groups were called “Bodellianer” and “Separatister”, and are mentioned in an old and comprehensive encyclopedia of cults, sects and denominations. I'm not sure if anyone has heard of them since. Apparently, my old family bible is based on the Charles XII Bible, but I'm sure the illustrations of dinosaurs drowning in the deluge must be of somewhat later vintage, fossils not being that well known in 1704…
