Make New Columbia great again
What has the District of Columbia (a.k.a. Washington DC) in common with Abkhazia, Somaliland, Khmer Krom and Gilgit Baltistan? Not much, except that all are members in good standing of the UNPO, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization.
Yes, you heard me.
The federal capital of the United States have joined an obscure organization used as a forum for pro-Russian breakaway republics, more or less serious ethno-separatists, and scheduled tribes tired of being scheduled. This unprecedented event took place on 7 November, 2015.
The city of Washington DC (as opposed to the federal authorities housed there) demand statehood, which will give local DC authorities more extensive law-making powers. It will also give their delegates real voting rights in Congress. The campaign for DC statehood is being conducted by the DC Statehood Congressional Delegation and the New Columbia Statehood Commission. Strictly speaking, it's really these campaign groups which have joined the UNPO. However, both consist of elected officials, including DC's delegate to Congress and the Mayor. I wonder why they took this peculiar step?
This is the flag of the District of Columbia, by the way. If God-Emperor Trümpenreich wants to make American flag-manufacturing great again, I suppose he could come out in support of DC statehood, since that would force *everyone* in the United States and abroad to change their 50-star US flags to 51-star dittos. Imagine all the job openings!
Amazing.
