I've seen a Swedish edition of this
book, available at several public and college libraries. It doesn't cover “all”
sports, as a later edition proudly proclaims (nobody can), but it does cover
100+ different disciplines. Some are well known, such as soccer, ice hockey or
athletics. Others are probably never ever shown on TV, such as pigeon racing or
horseshoe pitching. Funny detail: only one short paragraph explains beach volleyball,
one of the most popular summer Olympic sports! The encyclopedia is frankly
boring, and you probably need some patience to go through it. Many of the
pictures are pretty small, too. And ugly. But then, explaining the rules of
some of these games – and the gear used to play them - probably isn't easy! Dare
I say “cricket”?
