Funny how a TV series has loads of positive
reviews…before it even airs! But whatever…
I've also seen the first two episodes of the new “The X-Files”. I wasn't a big fan of the original series. It was too depressive, dark, weird and complicated. This was long before “Lost” and “A Game of Thrones” made complex story arcs the new normal. Besides, I don't like series where the good guys never win!
So far, the new style X-Files looks pretty much like the old style X-Files. UFOs, abductions, free energy technology, genetic manipulation… The main difference is that Mulder and Scully look older and more tired, which is actually quite annoying. But perhaps they are supposed to look that way? I also wonder about continuity with the old series. Wasn't the world supposed to end in 2012? Didn't Cancer Man die?
But OK, no hard feelings – if you're a great fan of agents Mulder and Scully, you're probably going to like this. And since I never *hated* the original franchise, I'm tentatively going to give the first two episodes of “Season 10” three stars.
The X-Files have been reopened. And the truth is still out there…
