Slovak must sees

“Tatry and Spis” is a coffee table book with lavish photos from the Spis region of Slovakia. Many of the “must sees” for tourists visiting this European nation are situated in the Spis: the old monastery at Cerveny Klastor, the Spis castle, the Spis diocese cathedral, the traditional houses at Zdiar and the towns of Kezmarok and Levoca. The cover of the book shows the Lutheran church at Kezmarok, built in Byzantine Revival style. Since Byzantine and Muslim architecture are similar, the church vaguely resembles a mosque! Nature-lovers will love Slovensky Raj and the High Tatras. The photographers behind “Tatry and Spis” are a father and son team: Vladimir Barta and Vladimir Barta jr. If you love color photos of the interiors of cathedrals, churches at daybreak or folksy village life, this might be exactly what you're looking for. Otherwise, probably not! The textual information is rather short (in both Slovak, English and German). The main thing about the Spis, after all, are the “must sees”.
