Raptors have a new alpha

“Jurassic World” is the only “Jurassic Park” sequel worth watching. This time, a genetically modified specimen known as Indominus Rex turns out to be more intelligent than expected, leaves its compound and runs amuck on Isla Nublar. Our only hope of salvation is a flock of trained Velociraptors, i.e. the “bad guys” from the first film!

The dinosaurs are cool, but the human characters are mostly geeky and/or awkward. The “bourgeois nuclear family” theme is particularly forced. The ending feels deus ex machina. As for the message, it's just as pessimistic as “Jurassic Park”, with greedy corporations, mad scientists and military trying to control Mother Nature, with the usual devastating consequences. The only glimmer of hope is that our hero can communicate with some of the dinosaurs…

These kinds of flicks really aren't my cup of genetically modified soda, but in the end, I nevertheless give it four stars out of five.
Thanks for the entertainment!
