“Little Ornithologists” is a short book for kids (aged
0-10) about common American birds. It only covers 10 species, most of which are
songbirds. The e-book can be downloaded for free. The author presumably lives
in the eastern half of the United States, since all the birds in her book can
be found there, while only some of them live in the western half. I'm not sure
how old your “baby” has to be to enjoy this, but presumably old enough to
understand peculiar words such as “suburban”, “suet” and “semi-open”. Still,
not a bad idea! Of course, I craved real field guides already as a kid, but
hey, that's me…
