This
book is written by Jack "Kewaunee" Lapseritis, a Bigfoot researcher
with a New Age/spiritual agenda. He argues that the Bigfoot phenomenon is at
bottom paranormal. Ideas of this kind are viewed as an acute embarrassment by
more mainstream Bigfoot researchers (including the few scientists who take the
elusive creature seriously), but nevertheless keep popping up on a fairly
regular basis. The reason is that many purported Bigfoot observations *are*
paranormal. It seems to be some kind of public secret in cryptozoological
circles that the line between the paranormal and the normal Bigfoot
observations is somewhat hazy. Even wholly "natural" Bigfoot
sightings can be biologically absurd, such as a Bigfoot in a small forest
surrounded by vast fields, which nevertheless manages to get away unseen in
broad daylight!
But sure, even open-minded people will probably find "Psychic Sasquatch" somewhat hard to swallow. Lapseritis has collected a number of truly outlandish witness reports about the monster in the woods. Bigfoot is, supposedly, both telepathic, telekinetic, connected to UFOs, uses hawks and ravens as sentinels, dematerialize at will, etc etc. At several Bigfoot hotspots, people have heard uncanny generator-like noises coming from the ground. People who see or investigate Bigfoot sightings are harassed by MIBs, get threatening phone-calls or have their phones tapped. Meanwhile, Lapseritis has hired mediums and asked them to pinpoint the exact location of Bigfoot in the state of Oregon.
Some of the anecdotes in "Psychic Sasquatch" are frankly unbelievable. One witness claims to have seen an underground city where Bigfoot creatures were technicians and work with alien machinery. They even wore clothes. The witness suspected that the creatures were really clones. A group of aliens informed the witness that the underground facility will be used in the event of a nuclear war to save spiritually enlightened humans!
Other people interviewed by the author claimed to have seen UFOs with Bigfoot occupants. One group of alien squatches even made a crude attempt to communicate in writing by handing over a hieroglyphic inscription. According to Barry Fell, the language was ancient Iberic?! Fell didn't know the putative source for the inscription when analyzing it... (The author decided not to tell him. Perhaps he was familiar with the dictum "I can't read a sealed book".)
Lapseritis has also interviewed Betty Hill, most known for her role in the Hill abduction case. Betty has been interested in Bigfoot for a long time, and a friend of her who saw the creature was harassed by black helicopters. Finally, Kewaunee reveals that *he* is both a UFO contactee and a Bigfoot "contactee". Both Bigfoot and various aliens have appeared in the author's bedroom at several points, communicated with him telepathically, healed him when ill, and so on.
The last chapter of "Psychic Sasquatch" contains a channelled message from Bigfoot (oh no, not again) transmitted through Lakota spiritual leader Standing Elk, reading in part: "I live within the fourth and fifth dimensional frequencies and I sit with Star Nations in Higher Realms with the Council of 22. (...) I am one with Gautama Buddha", and so on. Somehow, I don't think this sounds like traditional Lakota terminology!
"Psychic Sasquatch" may be extreme, but on a phenomenological level, the book is nevertheless quite interesting. For good or for worse, this is also part of the contemporary Bigfoot-Sasqutach phenomenon.
