Somebody still remembers Colotka

Colotka´s Papa

Amazon actually sells portraits of Peter Colotka, which prompted me to write the following.

Eeeeh...this is supposedly a portrait of Peter Colotka, one of the "hard line" Communists who smashed the Prague Spring with the aid of Soviet tanks in 1968. Afterwards, he served as the head of the Slovak Socialist Republic, one of the two states making up the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in its post-1968 faux federative version. Trust me, very few Slovaks gave a damn. Everyone knew that real power resided in Prague...or Moscow. Once I mentioned Colotka to a Slovak (to show off my considerable erudition on matters Czecho-Slovak). The man (who had been a Party member) jokingly said: "Oh, him, well, we almost forgot we had him". It seems Amazon hasn't forgotten...
