A review of "Jung the Mystic"
If this is supposed to be a defence of Jung, it
doesn't show. It comes across more like a lite version of Noll's "The Jung
Cult". It seems both Jung, Freud and their associates were, to put it
bluntly, barking mad. The line between patient and therapist was very thin. One
Honegger Senior started out as a manager of a mental asylum, only to end up as
a patient...at the same asylum. Says it all. Then there's Sabina Spielrein,
Otto Gross, Honegger Junior, Freud's fainting fits, Jung's meetings with his
guru Philemon (a spirit-man with two horns, a flowing beard and wings like a
kingfisher)... If I ever snap, I don't want to be "analyzed" by these
people. I rather take my chances with electric shocks! Psychoanalyst, heal
thyself, LOL. Oh, and the author is Iggy Pop's former guitarist. Whatever.
