Anarcho-capitalism is a form of right-wing
libertarianism often associated with the late Murray Rothbard. Several
different symbols of anarcho-capitalism exist. The original flag was probably
similar to this one, but without the mysterious sign. It was first used in 1963
and may have been designed by Rothbard himself. It's based on the red and black
anarcho-syndicalist flag, but with yellow (or gold) replacing the red color.
The strange symbol, known as Libertatis Aequilibritas, was designed by one Per
Bylund in 2001. It combines the anarchist circle-A, the dollar sign (used by
Ayn Rand) and the yin and yang of ancient Chinese philosophy. The latter is
used here to symbolize the balance of a free market. But, as Friedrich Hayek so
aptly pointed out, a free market *cannot* be in equilibrium. That's what makes
it free! Another utopian scheme laid to rest. And now, a weather forecast…
