Believe it or not, this is actually anti-Jewish

Little needs to be said about "The Eternal Jew", the most notorious anti-Semitic film of all times. Well, maybe *something* needs to be said, since two of the other reviewers are unsure whether this "documentary" is pro-Jewish or anti-Jewish?!

OK, let's see. "Der Ewige Jude" was produced in Nazi Germany. The production was supervised by Goebbels himself. It contains every anti-Semitic stereotype in existence. It explicitly compares Jews to rats and calls them vermin. So is it pro or con? You have three guesses...

"The Eternal Jew" is, of course, sickening. On a funnier note (if that's the right word for it), it also contains a number of embarrassing gaffes, the most famous being the claim that Charlie Chaplin was Jewish. So *this* is where that rumour comes from. In my younger days, I actually assumed for a while that Chaplin really was Jewish, since the local anti-Semites around here accused him of so being. The reason for the attack is presumably Chaplin's classical lampooning of Hitler in "The Great Dictator". Another mistake is the claim that Rosa Luxemburg's real name was Emma Goldman. Well, at least the slimy narrator got their nationality right - both Luxemburg and Goldman were famous Jewish socialists. The producers have also confused the Torah with the Talmud, showing a Torah scroll while "quoting" from the Talmud. Something tells me these details weren't of much interest to the intended audience of Hitler's willing executioners...

Political opportunism also rears it head. While "The Eternal Jew" does attack Marx, it never mentions the Soviet Union and its supposed Judeo-Bolshevik regime. Why not? No idea, but it's interesting to note that the film was released during the Hitler-Stalin pact! A final point of some interest is the explicit attack on Christianity for idolizing Jews such as Abraham, Moses, Jacob or Solomon. The Jewish Purim festival is also attacked, despite being based on an event mentioned in the Biblical book of Esther. Jesus, however, is not attacked, but rather skipped over in silence. (Jesus was Jewish, remember?)

But enough. Those interested in this kind of utter trash can easily find "Der Ewige Jude" in several versions on-line, and watch it for free. The version on sale here apparently lacks proper subtitles in English. But yes, it really is anti-Semitic.
