"America's Book of Secrets" is a new series
airing at H2, the sister channel of History. This is a review of the ninth
episode, "Mystery of Bigfoot". It's extremely unserious, constantly
promising evidence of a gigantic government cover-up (of Bigfoot?!), but never
delivering any. Well, unless you still believe in the thoroughly debunked
Montauk Monster.
Jeff Meldrum and Anna Nekaris (apparently the rising star of Bigfootdom) try to present a serious case for a flesh-and-blood primate living in the Pacific Northwest, and for a second or so, we even encounter sceptic Michael Shermer. However, these more sensible people are virtually drowned by the narrator's empty conspiracy-mongering. Some eyewitness accounts have been included, too.
Most absurdly, the narrator complains (!) about Bigfoot becoming commercialized. This from a commercial TV network like History! Are the owners jealous of the squatch? Well, that's just tough. Vote Democrat next year.
Only two stars for this unfortunately rather typical History Channel show...
