Perfect for toddlers

A review of Blümchen´s album "Jasmin".

Jasmin Blümchen is a German pop singer who was something of a Euro-disco icon for a couple of years. Her songs are essentially a kind of kiddie disco, with harmless lyrics about puppy love, summer sunshine and Christmas Eve.

Blümchen's video clips are great fun watching, provided you take them with a large grain of salt. For starters, many of them seem to be taped at exactly the same location, with Blümchen and her co-stars wearing exactly the same clothes! Another clip is taped in the Czech Republic (the road signs are in Czech). Why would a successful German pop star tape her video clips there??? Blümchen's lip movements aren't perfectly synchronized with the lyrics, and she is, quite frankly, very ugly (even with cleavage). The dolphins in one of her clips look lovely, though.

And yes, she does sing in German...

For whatever reason, this impossible artist became very popular in both Germany and Sweden (there is even a special Swedish edition of this album). The equally impossible Swedish pop star E-Type recorded a duet with her (not included here). And yes, I admit that my childish side loves this album! It's probably perfect for toddlers as well. Provided that the toddlers can dance, LOL.

Five stars...for the entertainment.

PS. My brother claims that "Jasmin Blümchen" doesn't really exist. One girl is singing the tracks on the album, and quite another girl is acting in the clips! This kind of surreal dadaism is typical of the genre.
I mean, who cares?
