The revolution comes to Eswatini

Cancelled?

A revolution is currently under way in the small nation of Eswatini or eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland) in southern Africa. It seems the absolutist king, Mswati III (who has reigned since 1986) has fled the country after angry crowds of protesters burned down his supermarkets, luxury cars and trucks.

The protesters, who are demanding a democratic republic, seem to be led by left-wing organizations: the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Communist Party, both of which are presumably inspired by similar parties in South Africa. It´s currently not clear how the police or the government will act in the king´s absence.

The link below goes to a left-wing source, the British blog "In Defence of Marxism" associated with the Trotskyist IMT (International Marxist Tendency).
