The peak oil flag






This is "the peak oil flag" (my newly minted designation), the unofficial flag of Cascadia (the U.S. Pacific Northwest plus British Columbia in Canada), proposed as the symbol of the Cascadian bioregion in 1994. Originally an environmentalist symbol, it has apparently become popular throughout the "bioregion", including among soccer fans. I like the original connection with survival in the face of energy crisis, climate change and other (untractable?) planetary threats. Of course, I'm somewhat disappointed that Bigfoot isn't included, but something tells me *he* will survive almost anything...
