The land of the setting sun
This is the Chinese (!) translation of Terry Eagleton's “Why Marx Was Right”.
The Chinese exegesis of the book is fascinating.
Apparently, Eagleton “clarifies the feasibility of running [the] market economy system under the guidance of Marxism”. In other words, there is no contradiction between Marx, friend Eagleton and, say, Hu Jintao. Since China has discovered the need for “sustainable development” (yeah, really), the presentation continues: “It also finds a perfect accord between Marxism and sustainable development, which is of much importance to the work of economic construction.”
After reading this imprimatur, I suppose we can all read the book without fear of being contaminated by, say, a socialist interpretation of Marxism. Or a Maoist one, LOL.
