Khaled Meshaal recently left Syria and moved to Qatar. The headquarters of
Hamas has been relocated to Egypt, which is controlled by the Muslim
Brotherhood. Meshaal himself has appeared at a press conference in Turkey
arranged by the governing party of that nation. Qatar and Turkey are U.S.
allies. Turkey is a member of NATO. The U.S. administration has attempted to
woo the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, as well.
Therefore, Hamas are fighting on the same side as the United States against Syria's Baathist regime.
