Few people today realize that recently deceased
Ethiopian president Meles Zenawi was originally a pro-Albanian Communist and
leader of the Marxist-Leninist League of Tigray (MLLT). After overthrowing the
pro-Soviet Communist regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam in 1991, Meles sensibly
decided not to turn Ethiopia into a second Albania. Interestingly, the Swedish
pro-Albanian group KPS supported Meles in his monumental decision, arguing that
only "Trotskyite wreckers" demanded immediate socialism in
Ethiopia...
