There's a squatch in these woods...,

"Finding Bigfoot" is a hilariously hideous, or hideously hilarious, reality show (or is it irreality?) about four explorers searching for Bigfoot or Sasquatch, the legendary ape-man of North America.

Most scientists consider Bigfoot to be a Native American myth turned into an urban legend, but the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) begs to differ. Led by the charismatic and somewhat cranky Matt Moneymaker, the team enters wild forests and treacherous swamp land, howling and tree-knocking, hoping to make contact with the elusive creature. They never do, but their antics are truly fascinating, and the eye-witness reports of Bigfoot activity from various parts of the U.S. are interesting in their own right. Besides, Matt's team members are quite the characters. Especially Bobo, ever ready to declare the most innocuously looking forest "sooo squatchy".

The best episode of Season One might be "Alaska's Bigfoot Island". Another favourite of mine is "Swamp Ape", about Bigfoot's distant cousin in the marshes of Florida. It seems this primate can turn up pretty much anywhere!

Of course, Bigfoot is biologically absurd, something repeatedly pointed out by the BFRO's house sceptic Ranae Holland. Yet, I'm willing to give these brave explorers the benefit of the doubt. It's clear that *something* strange is going on in the squatchy woodlands of the United States, and it sure aint the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker!

Four stars - for the Bigfootainment.
