A review of the MonsterQuest episode "Gigantic Killer Fish"
For
once, the wild goose chasers over at History Channel's MonsterQuest division
manage to find a monster. Perhaps it's because they decided to play it safe and
went searching for *real* monsters, instead of gators in the sewers, giant rats
in the tunnels or UFOs at the local airstrip.
In this episode, the monsterquesters take us to the lakes and rivers of the Brave New World, searching for...gigantic killer fish. Aggressive catfish the size of a shark, the alligator gar (which really does look like an alligator - imagine these beauties in your sewer), and jumbo-sized pikes. Yepp, these creatures really do exist and can be found in a sleepy fishing lake or outside a beach near you.
They are hungry, too. I mean, the lakes are running low on sea serpents, giant squids or submerged UFOs. So don't worry - you don't have to look for these babes, they will find *you* and your sweet little back side when you least expect it...
The funniest part of this documentary is the interview with a "fish noodler", a crazy cracker who catches catfish with his bare hands, using himself as bait! Otherwise, "Gigantic Killer Fish" is just as boring as usual. Only two stars, overall. Still, I'm glad I don't like to go swimming, it seems it may have spared me being turned into a noodle.
