IUCN strikes again

This is the second volume of the three-part series "Coral Reefs of the World", published by the IUCN Conservation Monitoring Centre. This volume covers the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the Gulf. There is an obvious emphasis on questions such as land tenure, economic and social benefits, legal protection, environmental destruction, etc. However, the books also describe the fauna and flora of the reefs, their physical features, etc. All in all, these are important reference works, but hardly books for the general public. The IUCN (sometimes called the World Conservation Union) is a quasi-official international organization with ties to the United Nations.
