There does seem to be a kind of "normalization" of US politics at the moment.
Conservative Breibart News is complaining about Biden giving workers and poor people "pork". Libertarians oppose the unionization drive at Amazon (you know, the monopolistic globo-liberal multi-billion corporation). Cornucopians claim that the COVID vaccines are a stunning success for capitalism and the free market.
When that cop in Minneapolis is set free, the radical left will "feel betrayed" by the Democrats (for the 46th time) and riot as hell. Meanwhile, the Trotskyists have joined the Democratic Socialist of America. They will be expelled four years further down the road and issue "regroupment" declarations.
Nobody cares about climate change. The southern border is open for bizniz. Donald Trump is nowhere to be seen. And the United States is once again on a collision course with Russia, China, Iran or its own Manifest Destiny.
This is how the world looked like about 2015 or so. Fair enough, I suppose. It does give you a certain sense of security. Relief, even. There´s just one little problem.
We all know what happened *next*, don´t we?
