This is a Swedish translation of the second half of a book by Karl-Erich
Graebner. The original German edition must have been a mammoth volume! The
quality of the photos, some in color, others in black and white, is good. The
quality of the text is more varied. The book lacks overall structure, and looks
like a series of short articles from some magazine geared towards a general
audience. My copy contains pieces on such varied subjects as bird feeders,
mistletoe, vipers, penicillin, eels and Alpine flowers. Most of the animals and
plants featured seem to be European, but marine fauna is also included. Since
no English translation of “Reich der Tausend Wunder” seems to exist, I'd say
the market for this volume is pretty limited…
