Marx and Engels = CIA assets?

I haven't seen this collection, but I can't help commenting on it. A collection of articles by Marx and Engels (yes, *those* guys) titled "The Russian Menace to Europe"??!!

I suppose this was the only way to sell Marxist works back in 1953, when the Cold War was at its coldest. But who published it? A bunch of State Department socialists, connected to the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, a.k.a. the CIA? The Social Democratic Federation, or what?

Marx and Engels were, of course, referring to Czarist Russia, which was suppressing democratic revolutions in Europe. A bit like the role played by the United States in Asia, Africa and Latin America during the Cold War.. :P
