Boring reference work

A review of "The World´s Rarest Birds" by Erik Hirschfeld

This book is a kind of encyclopedia of more or less rare birds, with short species presentations and color photos or, in some instances, computer-generated pictures. Read about the Negros Fruit-dove, the Mindoro Imperial-pigeon, the Eskimo Curlew or the Rio Branco Antbird! Overall, this volume seems pretty boring, and I prefer “Atlas of Rare Birds” by Dominic Couzens, which covers less species but in a more comprehensive (and sometimes even entertaining) fashion. But yes, if it's a reference volume you want, I suppose this could fill a niche.
