Some YouTube clips on "Enochian Magick", a magical system invented by British occultists John Dee and Edward Kelley during the 16th century. Today, a revised version is used by people inspired by the Golden Dawn tradition. The presenter admits that he doesn´t understand Enochian chess, the most convoluted and complex part of the system!
One thing I didn´t realize before is that the "angelic communications" to Dee and Kelley were strongly apocalyptic in nature. In other words: they were fake. Either that, or angels speak apocalyptically to apocalypticists. There are also obvious parallels to prophets claiming new revelations and introducing new scriptures. 300 years later, a certain Joseph Smith became a kind of latter day John Dee...
So why should I believe these "communications" in particular?
And yes, the Necronomicon was supposedly discovered by John Dee. But surely *everyone* agrees that´s fake, right...?
