The show must go on

This must be the most dramatic episode of the Hare Krishna podcast "Wisdom of the Sages". The two hosts, former New York City punk rockers Ragunath and Kaustubha, are sending from Villa Vrindavana, an ISKCON center in Italy. Ragunath spell-binds his audience with tales of a near-disastrous ferry ride over the Adriatic, and also reveals that he collects animal crania to remind himself of his mortality.

Then an earthquake hits the villa...

I admit that the reactions of the podcast moderators were fascinating to watch. Although both are sitting right below a *very* heavy chandelier, they don´t get up and leave for safer pastures. Ragunath essentially freezes, while his co-host Kaustubha continues expounding on the Hindu scripture Shrimad Bhagavatam?!

Finally, somebody in the audience convinces them to leave the villa due to the risk for aftershocks. Outside, Ragunath is still scared...of snakes, sharks and monkeys! There may indeed be dangerous snakes in Italy (I don´t really know), but sharks are probably not a staple of the Chianti Hills fauna, and neither are monkeys. I think he was thinking of India...

The scriptural readings then continue as if nothing under a wonderful Italian tree of some sort. And yes, it´s called "The Earthquake Episode".

God´s dance never ends.
