The Attari-Wagah border ceremony is a peculiar flag lowering ritual at the Indian-Pakistani border. In British media, it´s habitually compared to Monty Python´s ministry of silly walks! Indeed, one of the clips above is narrated by Michael Palin himself.
The two first clips are good as introduction, but the picture quality is quite low. It´s better in the third and fourth clips, which are unnarrated. Note the cheering crowds at both sides of the heavily guarded border!
Of course, the background is dead serious: the partition of India and several shooting wars between Muslim-dominated Pakistan and Hindu-majority India...
