I almost forgot about this one… ;-)
Although I don't like Erich von Däniken or George Adamski, I admit that I liked this piece of music as a teenager. “The Light from Fantasia” is a pseudo-pretentious Swedish pop song from 1987, performed by the grossly misnamed band French Revolution .
OK, so one of the band members was named Paris. Paris Edvinson, to be exact. The others were Vicky Benckert (of all people!) and Jonas Warnerbring, son of more famous entertainer Östen Warnerbring. The song itself has absolutely zero connection to Jacobins or Girondists. Like later single releases by this band, the theme is broadly New Age. Think aliens, reincarnation and angels. It's not clear whether this is seriously intended or some kind of commercial ploy. Probably the latter.
If I understand it correctly, “The Light from Fantasia” is about a pre-modern or early modern city dweller somewhere in Europe who gets literally abducted by luminous aliens from another world. The aliens inform the man that he, too, is really an alien. Their home world is apparently named Fantasia (pronounced Fan-tah-zee-ah, not Fan-tay-she-ah).
“The Light from Fantasia” was a big hit back in 1987, and French Revolution's album “Fantasia” from 1988 was also quite successful. Today, they are almost entirely forgotten. I'm not sure why this even came back to me. Perhaps a green man in a white gown has parked his UFO outside my window…?
