Why isn´t Asatru a much stronger religion? It seems to be the perfect religion for a certain kind of White working class males. And even some females.
It´s surely easy to combine with a certain kind of White Amerikan cultural types (or are they tropes): the trapper in the wilderness, the cowboy in the desert, the member of a Patriot militia, the biker guy. And if you´re more into community, there´s the homesteader (plus a mule, a large family and an even larger gun).
It´s much easier to combine a modern cult of Thor and Odin with this, than with Christianity. Instead, Americans try to spin Christianity as much as possible in this direction. Just as medieval Europeans tried to spin Christianity as much as possible in *their* direction. Same with the Vikings!
If I ever write a science fiction novel about the world in 2200, I will describe a situation in which the White population is divided into three groups: Muslims, Shintoists and Asatruers. When the Muslims conquered Europe, the weak and stupid liberals converted to Islam. The conservatives fled to Japan, where the Emperor demanded that they convert to Shinto. Meanwhile, in the ethno-nationalist backwoods of North America, Asatru thrives...

Perhaps in urban areas as well! The rise of Evangelism appears to me to be the latest trend setter, at least in popular media. viz. Mike Johnson, current Speaker of the House. Manifest Destiny (certain White Amerikan types?) was clothed in Christianity, somewhat, but the armed Trump flag wavers today only pretend to believe in anything other than the Angelic Saviour of Everything, if that's what you're implying. Tik Tok is full of AI generated versions of Trump as Jesus, Michael the Archangel, Ultimate Truth etc. Hey, maybe St. Germaine reincarnated! Meanwhile, a few miles up the road I recommend a rest stop:
