This review is from: Waders of
Europe, Asia and North America (Helm Field Guides) (Paperback)
If you belong to the hardcore minority of bird-watchers *not* driven crazy
by waders (shorebirds), this may make your day. Waders sitting, waders eating,
waders flying, juvenile waders, breeding waders and generally annoying and
polyandrous waders, all in one volume brought to us by the indefatigable Mr
Helm and his two splendid associates Stephen Message and Don Taylor. Strong
point: the volume covers both sides of the Pond, since every damn North
American godwit, plover or surfbird has an annoying tendency to show up in Old
Europe on a semi-regular basis, confusing the local pro-wader aficionados.
These feathery minions treat the North Atlantic as if it was some kind of
inland lake! Three stars, and now, run for cover…
