Really cold winter nights here in Sweden. Every evening, I see Venus. And after Venus sets, Jupiter appears. Well, at least I assume it´s Venus and Jupiter. Rather than, I don´t know, spy drones or something...
This has happened every night like this for billions of years. Actually quite reassuring.
Very cold here also. We see Venus too, even with light pollution from the city. Temps -12 to -19 F. I tried to sense myself in the chill, and recall what my anestor 5,000 years ago may have felt in the same climate. Strange to grasp we ourselves do indeed have prehistoric genes from a man and a woman. They were cold too!
ReplyDeleteC not F temps.
DeleteSo thanks to the Gulf Stream (or was it AMOC), it´s less cold in Sweden than Chicago?!
ReplyDeleteYou're currently at 29 F according to google.
DeleteCould be. Right now, 9 am Central standard time, it is 9 degrees Fahrenheit. High today of 12. Minneapolis has been in the double digits below zero for days.
ReplyDeleteMinneapolis is currently -7 F.
DeleteYeah, we're creating a mess. As the Polar jet stream weakens, colder air from the Arctic is able to penetrate further south into the great plains. Our mountains run north/south so not blocking the winds.
