Nothing behind the veil?

 

I honestly don´t understand why people would like God to be "Nothingness" or "Nothing", not even metaphorically speaking. I mean, dude, wazza point? 

And why *that* particular metaphor? Rather than, say, the metaphor of a mysterious person hiding in the endless night...
