Why is there a shipping crisis in Britain? According to fake news media, it´s Brexiiiiit! What else? Well, OK, Brexit and COVID. The pesky little Fauci virus is definitely part of the problem, but Brexit? Naaah, there is a similar shipping crisis in the United States...
The link below goes to a blog post by a veteran truck driver who tries to explain to us rookies how the (extremely messy) US transportation business works. The short form is that the current crisis is caused by two factors. First, COVID. Second, low wages and lousy working conditions both at the ports, at warehouses and for the truck drivers themselves. Many workers have simply quit, or been laid off because of the pandemic and refused to return. An additional problem is that the transportation companies are making huge profits *because of the crisis*, since this makes it possible for them to hike the transportation fees!
The only solution seems to be a planned economy, or something like it, suggested by the blogger at the end of his piece.
Interesting. If that´s the right word for it.
