The Yemeni Muslim mayor of Hamtramck in Michigan has endorsed Trump for president. When the voters of the small town elected a Muslim-majority council in 2015, liberals were initially excited...only to be disappointed when the Muslims banned LGBTQ flags and tried to stop marijuana sales.
When I commented this in 2023, I ironically wondered when the Alt Right would endorse the Muslim council.

The endorsement strikes me as strange, since the mayor, Ameer Ghalib, was apparently deeply involved in the Uncommitted movement, which protested Biden´s "support for Israel" from a pro-Gaza position. So why on earth would Ghalib support Trump, who is even more pro-Israeli than Biden or Harris? Either he is very conservative and hence cannot stand the Democrats´ "Woke" stances, or it has something to do with his Yemeni nationality. Perhaps he supports the internationally recognized government of Yemen against the Houthis, and hopes that Trump will support its Saudi and UAE backers? Or he´s nuts, who knows.

An earlier Breitbart article (or earlier version of article number two above?) mentioned a mysterious Lebanese businessman at the meeting with Trump. Monetary contributions?
ReplyDeleteClarification. Of course Trump will support Saudi Arabia, UAE and the official Yemeni government against the Houthis. The mayor would then presumably indicate his support for *this*, fearing that a Harris admin would be soft on the Houthis and Iran? But I honestly have no idea.
ReplyDeleteHarris is more of a "hawk" than people suspect. Trump is an idiot. All he wants is more grift and $$$, assuming, as many do, that's the measure of one's validity. The mayor of a town of some 27,000 people is merely grandstanding for his own political purposes. As far as being soft on Iran, the West really needs to sort things out with the Persians. Is that too "woke"?
