A predicament with no solutions

Temporary winner?

Believe it or not, but we actually have *more* than 10 years left. That in itself makes me believe the IPCC´s latest report on climate change. Apparently, it´s 20 years! Also, the IPCC points out that many of the negative changes due to climate change won´t happen until the latter half of the 21st century. So, who know, maybe it´s more like 50 years or so?

Aint that just cool! (Pun intended.)

Yes, I´m being facetious.

Actually, what the report really says (apparently) is that we have to cut carbon emissions by 7% per year, every year, until we reach zero, and then develop technology that can *suck up* all the carbon dioxide we already dumped into the atmosphere (or at least a substantial portion of it).

But, of course, if we stop using fossil fuels, our entire civilization will collapse, so who is going to build those fantastic clean-up machines?

Oh, and don´t tell Putin and Xi. They won´t listen anyway.

What will happen now is fairly obvious: nothing. Or rather, the same as usual. The "Green" capitalists (and their governments) will promote electric cars, "fossil free" industrial plants, the inevitable wind-powered generators, and (sometimes) nuclear power (rebranded as "Chernobyl Green", perhaps?) in pretty much the same way as they already promote COVID vaccines, unemployment schemes, quantitative easing, and other specious "solutions" to real life problems. But sure, it´s good for the profits (of somebody, somewhere) and the bloated bureaucracy. Also, countless of young petit bourgeois kids can get a job as "activists"!

The bizarre thing is that the above might be the lesser evil than the alternative: that the establishment *actually* tries to do something to solve the climate crisis. Think biological warfare, forced famine, limited nuclear war or "geo-engineering" (which may kill everyone, except the psycho-globo-liberals on the AI-controlled last Ark). You´re not on the list, kiddo.

So this is endgame, then. The modern West was the best (well, sort of), but now it seems that the saga is definitely over. The saga of Putinist Russia and Xi Jinping Thought China is also over. They just don´t know it yet. There are no solutions to a predicament, and long term decline seems to be just that. Once again: without fossil fuels, it´s straight back to substistance farming. And nobody wants *that*, of course. (Besides, subsistance farming could be kinda hard if there is no subsistence to farm!)

On the negative side, the future is about resource wars, migrations, and every imaginable calamity. Can something positive come out of all this? Difficult to say. Maybe more national solidarity and equality within the tribe? If God is real, maybe we will find a way back to Him-Her-That? Of course, it´s a tragedy that it takes a tragedy to make this happen...
