Scientific breakthrough or clickbait as usual?

Interesting, to be sure, but perhaps to soon to rehabilitate ol´ Lamarck. Why can´t the ability to turn on non-random mutations to protect the organism in itself be a feature that evolved through random mutations?

Even Dawkins talks about "the evolution of evolvability" or something to that effect. Note also the bizarre glee in the first article, with its click-baitish title "Darwin was wrong!" (Darwin actually had no idea how inheriterance works so he couldn´t be "wrong" or "right" about mutations).

Short form: yes, Mr. Editor, your evolutionary cousin really was a chimp! No use denying it.

Darwin was wrong!

Are genetic mutations random in humans? Israeli study says NO

  1. Very intresting subject. Wish the creationists could chill a little. Thre might be huge discoveries here from a health perspective, and also seemingly insane bilblical teachings like original sin might at least slightly get a scientufic explanation from epigenetics. But The idea of epigenetics existing independenrly from darwinian genetics is ridiciulous.

Speaking of creationist, they must like this incident. Me too actually:

Some people the Lord punish immediatly. In this case for commit ting two sins at once, taking the Lords name in vain while at the same time encouraging people to have The needlecraft.

  2. Yes, I´ve seen that. Very, very bizarre! Especially the way it happens *immidiately* after she insulted the unvaxxed and Jesus.

  3. Even a kind of "intelligent design" could be proved if organisms can somehow direct their mutations. Maybe the entire biosphere can co-evolve somehow in this way? That is, "consciously" co-evolve. I think many Christians would find this interesting, but the most hardline fundies will condemn it anyway as "pantheism" or whatever.

  4. Of course, that would rise a lot of intriguing questions. Such as why the biosphere should have chosen to evolve humans?

John Michael Greer (whose blogs I link to) proposed, only part flippantly, that perhaps Gaia wants to heat up the planet after all the annoying ice ages, and therefore created humans, who will burn all the fossil fuels, go under as a result, and leave Earth a more hot and humid place, just the way Gaia wants it to be!

Kan vi rent av få se lite stå upp-komik som driver med Pfizer och NPC:s framöver? Har damen haft sitt "vägen till Damaskus"-ögonblick"?
