ReplyDeleteYes, I suppose that´s the exoteric interpretation. My personal take on the Kali meme is more "Tantric". Shiva is the inert divine consciousness, Kali is the dangerous shakti that emerges from the divine stillness, the real power of creation, but also destruction. Many sages want to reach the divine stillness, but the real Tantrika wants to merge with the shakti and also to master the shakti by "riding the wave", so to speak. Thus, Kali is a symbolic depiction of Reality in all its terrible grandeur. She will devour you unless you become a siddha who can sacrifice meat to jackals at a charnel ground in the dead of a medieval Indian night...
