"So what if I can´t live forever, I´m contented now, you Xian bastard. Besides, the slaughterhouse is mythological anyway!" |
Of course atheist materialists can live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
So can cows destined for the slaughterhouse. Well, at least before they are brutally butchered under ritualistic forms...
So what´s the problem, really? Check mate, Xians!
Or no?
"So what if i cant live forever? If you slaugther me i will go straight to nirvana but you will be a suffering ghost after death. After a very long time you will be reborn as some very lowly animal or vegetable. Then you will have to go trough 3.6 million reikarnations before you are even human again. Have fun".
ReplyDeleteI always liked the hindu attitude to cows. Wish they were somewhat as respectfull of other animals as well.
Cows rule.

Remember that one. Reminds me of an exellent book called "The history of vegetarianism". All (i think) of the major vegetarian streams in various cultures were covered. And several of the minor and more cultish ones.
ReplyDeleteI got a bit confused as an idealistic teenager with a lot of respect for hinduism when i red in that book that the sanskrit word for "guest" is the same as "cowkiller". Presumably because an honored guest should always be offered newly slaughtered meat.
The animal rights angle was very minor in the east. Various cults who were vegetarian seemed to be mostly motivated by the "" fact that it makes celibacy easier".
Might be some truth in that. Red meat have very mild effecrt simmiliar to that of amphetamine and caffeine. And central stimulants wont make celibacy any easier for mist people.
Yes, I heard that from several commentators at John Michael Greer´s blog. That a vegetarian diet might enhance your spiritual practice, for some kind of physico-psychological reasons. Also, people who had dramatic spiritual experiences (such as meeting "spirits" or "aliens") often become vegetarian as a result. Kundalini-related? Since the body and the soul influence each other, this is actually quite logical. I mean, nobody denies that certain drugs can enhance your "spirituality"...
ReplyDeleteThere were also speculations if long hair versus shaved head has some influence on spirituality. Yes, if you believe in "etheric" or "astral" forces, but what about physical ones?
ReplyDeleteI belive hair to some extent helps with percieving movements and pressure changes in the air.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a shaved head makes it easier to focus in meditation etc if it makes you less sensible for such distractions. And it probably makes you less vain to.
But i like having long hair. Especially since i gave up on shampo and conditioners Ive noticed that my hair seems to follow my general wellbeing now. If im living fairly healthy my hair looks good to. With shampo and cobditioner your hair looks the same regarless of lifetyle.
I actually learned a few usefull things from this hyper comersial "esoteric" hairdresser:

Some iof his articles are intresting. But i would never buy his overpriced stuff. Fir examoel his applecider and clay "shampoi" can easily be made for a fraction of the price in yor own bathroom before use
But his writings on how to use boar brushes are very good. And some of his takes on the the astral function of hair are intresting.
Interesting!
