How the world loved the swastika...until Hitler stole it
The link above goes to a peculiar article at BBC News trying to rehabilitate...the swastika?! I don´t think such an article could have been published, say, 30 years ago, and I´m surprised it can be published now! Maybe it can´t, since the piece is from 2014, long before the BLM-Antifa riots and the storming of the Capitol...
One thing not mentioned by the writer is that the swastika is still officially used in Finland. It forms part of the design of the flag of the president! Otherwise, I think the hakenkreuz will remain off limits in the Western world for another 100 years or so, since most people using it aren´t nice old ladies from the Theosophical Society or harmless Raëlian cranks, but...ahem...actual Nazis.
India and Tibet is another matter entirely. Perhaps an ironic consequence of Western multi-culturalism is that Hindus, Jains and Buddhists will be permitted to use the swastika at their temples in the middle of London or New York?
