Since I habitually trash "the myth of the noble savage", it´s only fair to point out that according to a new theory, Paleolithic hunters didn´t exterminate the "charismatic megafauna". It really was naturally occuring climate change, triggered by a so-called geomagnetic reversal. But then, I´m also something of a catastrophist, so I can´t say I would be surprised if this turns out to be true. As usual, if you´re an atheist, this is the only world there is. And if you´re a pantheist, you have to fall down and worship the geomagnetic reversal as god. Good luck with that, kiddo! (The second link is a Swedish summary, btw).
